Superbowl Stress

If you are like me, you enjoyed the Superbowl and all the food that went along with it. If you fell off the diet wagon, don't stress. Just take a deep breath and get back on. You have to enjoy life and times of good food and friends. At our party, I was talking to two friends who are running an upcoming 1/2 marathon, and as I said my goal is to do it next year. My goal this week is to start exercising. How do you all fit it into your day, and what is your favorite way to work out? I am going to start running, but I also like to do other things. If you are a runner, what tips can you give to someone just starting out? Share your excercise wisdom.

Thought for the day:

If you drop 10 pounds, that is as much as a sack of potatoes. I am taking my wieght loss one sack at a time:)

New Week

I am so excited to see the progress everyone has made over the last week. Tomorrow is weigh in day, and I know it is going to be a good one. Even if the numbers are not what you want, remember it is a process and not a race.

Barb shared a yummy treat I am hooked on. They are called Kim's Magic Pops. You can get them at HEB. They are like a rice cake but larger. Each pop contains 15 calories and no fat. They are great with a little low fat peanut butter and glass of water...you feel full:)

Check out the biggest loser web site. They will donate money for every pound you drop to food banks.

Be sure to share your weight loss tips with us.

Make it a great day!

Week 1 Down

Everyone had such a great week. Even if you did not get the results that you wanted, don't get down. Just keep your eye on the long term prize. I have to remind myself that I did not put the weight on overnight, and it will not come off overnight either. I just downloaded the app from Couch to 5K, and I am going to try to use it for my cardio. If I ever hope to run that half marathon, I have to start somewhere. I will let you know how it is going.

A big congratulations to Teresa and Barb for winning our prizes for the week. I hope you enjoy them ladies. However, everyone that dropped weight won the best prize!!

Make it a great day

Let's Get It Started!!

Good morning all! Today is the kick off day for our biggest loser contest. The idea of dieting makes me want to cry, so I am looking at this as a lifestyle change. I have blown every diet I have ever been on, lost and gained weight like a yo-yo, but I know I need to make a change. I want to feel good when I look in the mirror and enjoy shopping again. So today starts with small steps and changes to make a long term difference. I have started the do squats and leg lifts while I dry my hair in the morning. Climb up and down the stairs a few extra times each day. I started to do calf lifts on the bottom step before I start up each time. 20 reps makes my tush start to burn. I know I have such a long way to go, but my goal is to do a half marathon a year from now. I am putting it out there so I can have more accountability. My next hurdle is going to be setting real time 3-4 times a week to really work up a sweat. I hope we will share our highs and lows on this journey together, and I hope we can be a real support system to each other. In the end, we can't all win the money, but we can all be losers together! Make it a great day!
